A Low Cost Flux Beater? POCOCO Galaxy Lite Home Planetarium

For a long time there has really only been one choice if you wanted a realistic home galaxy projector, and that’s the Sega Homestar range. Yet, time brings competition, and now the Homestar Original/Flux have a new contender looking to offer a similar experience at a fraction of the price.

In the box

You get the Pococo Galaxy Lite projector, a USE power/charging cable and 4 projection discs included.

The projector has a battery built in and you can use the USB-C cable to charge it up and it can then be placed anywhere in your room, it doesn’t need to be near a power source all the time.

There are 4 discs included:

Pococo Galaxy Lite In use

For the low price this is an impressive little projector. Getting 4 discs included gives you different options. There are a lot of projectors available that leave you fixed with the same view.

Setup is very easy: charge it via the USB-C cable, load a disc into the holding tray, turn on, focus, relax and enjoy the view!

There are controls on the base for power, rotation and auto off. Unlike more expensive option there is no shooting star option, so the only movement you get is the disc being rotated around.

When you’re ready to change things up you can buy additional discs to give you different views.

Pococo Galaxy Lite vs Sega Homestar Flux

The Galaxy Lite is a great option, but how does it stack up against the grandaddy of star projectors?

In terms of price, it wins hands down; the projector and extra discs are all considerable cheaper. However, in my experience, the quality of the projection is better on the Flux.

So for the most realistic night sky indoors go with the Flux, for a more budget friendly option that is almost as good get the Galaxy Lite.
