The BlissLights Sky Lite 2.0 has proven to be an extremely popular model on my YouTube channel, and it’s easy to see why as it offers a good balance of features for the price.

This product represents a first for me: it’s the first of this type of product I’ve tried that has its own dedicated app.

Key Details:

  • Ambient Light: High
  • Cost: Low
  • Type: Stars (lazer) with Nebula
  • Star color: Blue or green
  • Shooting star: No
  • Speaker: No
  • Power: USB-C
  • Remote: Mobile app

In the Box

As well as the Sky Lit 2.0 you get a couple of power plugs which connect to the unit via a USB-C cable, you don’t have to plug it into a power outlet, the power plugs are optional.

That’s useful if you’ve an outlet or extension cable that has USB ports built in, it saves you clogging up a plug space.

There’s a manual, and that’s it.  There isn’t a remote, the unit can be controlled either via the buttons on the device or via a mobile app.

The Sky Lite 2.0 is a nice looking device. It’s compact, made of plastic, and is designed to be pointed at a wall or ceiling.

Mobile Control

Setup is really simple, just power it up and away you go!  If you want full control, you’ll need to download the companion app and pair the device to your mobile via Bluetooth.

To do so is just a matter of following the instructions in the app. You hold the power button for 6 seconds to place it into pairing mode. The app will scan for the device, and you’re done!

Controlling via app is a lot easier than trying to us buttons on the device and it gives you a lot of functionality you don’t normally get.

There are lots of preset scenes. Simply select the scene you want it will send it to the device.  It responds quickly, changing from one scene to the next rapidly.

You can also set different lighting types, for example if the stars are on or off, or changing the nebula color between red, green and blue or a mixture.

As with similar products, the ‘stars’ are just dots projected, they don’t remotely represent the actual night sky.

If you don’t want to be messing with your mobile all the time, but you like different options, you can set it to cycle between the different modes.

If you want a specific look you’re in luck!  There’s a DIY panel that lets you adjust the red, green, blue and brightness of stars.

Once you’ve got it set up, so it’s exactly as you want, you can then save the settings and take a photo of the projection, which becomes the card that you see within the app

This means you can quickly and easily swap between pre-set looks and you’re own personal settings at the touch of a button.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the questions I’m often asked:

Does Skylite 2.0 work with Alexa

The Blisslights Sky Lite 2.0 does not work with Alexa.  It has no WiFi connection built in, instead it uses Bluetooth to pair with your mobile phone to be controlled using an app.

Does the BlissLights Sky Lite have a timer

The Blisslights Sky Lite 2.0 has a customizable timer length.  You can set it to automatically shut off from 1hr to 24hrs, in 1hr increments.  You also have the option to set a power on timer, also 1hr to 24hrs in 1hr increments.

Can I sleep with my Sky Lite on

The Sky Lite 2.0 is very quiet, but it does put out a lot of light.  This would make it difficult for most people to get a good nights sleep, especially if it’s positioned on a bedside table next to you while sleeping.

Can you leave star projector on all night

Blisslights have built in a customisable shut down timer that allows you to automatically power the unit off after 24 hours, which suggests they are fine with it being left on for that long.

Does BlissLights have an app

Blisslights Sky Lite Classic does not have an app, however Sky Lite 2.0 does make use of an app on both the Apple App store and Google Play store.

Where do you put BlissLights

The Sky Lite 2.0 is designed for indoor use only.  It should be placed near a power source pointing up at the ceiling or across on to a wall.  See:

How do I connect my phone to BlissLights

Download the companion app and follow the in app instructions.  They will guide you through the pairing process, once completed you will have tons of options as to how it looks.
